Written Message for the opening of the Cyprus National Youth Conference, 26 May 2015

Dear participants,

I welcome the format of the National Youth Conference, and I compliment the Youth Board of Cyprus for its efforts to create a dialogue between different youth stakeholders.

This event replicates the way we organise the Structured Dialogue with youth at EU level. Working together to find solutions is the best way to ensure that all young people can fulfil their aspirations and play an active role in society.

I applaud the ambition of the Youth Board of Cyprus to develop and implement a national youth strategy that helps young people face today’s challenges.

The EU Youth Strategy has played a pivotal role in helping Member States to develop national youth strategies, and I am pleased that your conference workshops focus on the eight fields of action of the EU Strategy.

We must have to have an open dialogue with young people about the issues that affect their future, and your conference does just that. I wish all participants a successful event.
