As daily life becomes more complex and challenging, it becomes more likely that we’ll encounter problems and situations we can’t manage. We all have moments when we feel pressured, helpless, or simply exhausted. And that’s completely normal.

The first step is to recognize that we’re facing some difficulties. Once we do, the next step is to seek help -either from someone close to us or from a professional. Don’t let your emotions overwhelm you. You are not alone, and you don’t have to go through this alone.

In our effort to create a safe space for you, we’ve gathered useful information and professionals who can help you feel better. You are important, and you deserve to feel well!

Don’t wait! If you feel like you need it, speak up. You are stronger than you think.

What Is Mental Health?

If our body isn’t well, then our soul can’t be well either. Take care of your health daily through proper nutrition and exercise, and dedicate even 5 minutes to personal calm and recreation.

When our body and mind are in harmony, we can focus on our daily activities, complete all our tasks, and create something new -a text, a sketch, a lyric… anything that expresses us!

How we see ourselves affects how others see us -or rather, how we allow others to see us. By believing in our abilities and loving ourselves, we help others believe in us and love us too.

Expressing what we feel and what concerns us helps us recognize and manage those emotions—either on our own or with someone’s help.

Understanding others’ emotions and putting ourselves in their shoes helps us build healthy relationships and better understand ourselves.

Being able to function within a group helps us feel good about ourselves and develop valuable skills: communication, critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, etc.

Humans are social beings and cannot survive without help -whether emotional or practical. It’s important to have people around us whom we can rely on.

What Are the Most Common Mental Health Issues?

The word “άγχω” literally means “to choke,” and it refers to a natural reaction -either physical or emotional- to threats, stressful situations, or circumstances where we feel judged. Creative anxiety keeps us alert, but excessive anxiety causes intense worry, fear, anger, sadness, and even depression. That’s why it’s important to address it early!
If you’re feeling anxious, talk to someone:

Often, our self-image depends on how we perceive our body, which can lead to extreme behaviors. Anorexia, Bulimia, Orthorexia, Night Eating Syndrome -these are just a few types of eating disorders.
If you feel your eating habits are affecting your physical and mental health, seek help:

The quality of our sleep affects our physical and mental health directly. Sometimes, just sleeping enough hours isn’t enough. We need to ensure our sleep is of good quality and gives us the strength to face our daily challenges.
If you’re worried that your sleep isn’t giving you peace, relaxation, and energy, ask a specialist how you can improve it:

Our daily lives are full of stress -and temptations- and the desire to “fit in” our social environment is strong. Alcohol, tobacco products, various substances, as well as gambling and video games, are often chosen either to escape anxiety or to feel like we belong to a group. However, it’s important to maintain balance and not become dependent on these things!
